Making “The Welcome Song”

Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth and 16-time GRAMMY Award winner David Foster collaborated to celebrate the 43rd Kennedy Center Honorees-Debbie Allen, Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Midori, and Dick Van Dyke-with an original song to open the ceremony, "Human Spark Divine." Reflective of this unique time in history, our challenge was to re-envision this special performance virtually. The stakes were high and the Kennedy Center needed us to need to be flexible and adaptable.

In order to pull off such a unique production, we used a "lite" crew, working around the clock to ensure this last-minute effort was a success. The result of the circumstances inspired and opened up new ways for us to present a deeper, more intimate experience for the home audience. We couldn’t have been more honored to put it all together in time for the big event.
